That’s the way I look when I get home late; black and blue.

Everyone wants to enjoy the good parts – but you have to build the framework first. We tell people sometimes: we’re like drug dealers, come into town and get everybody absolutely addicted to painting. It doesn’t take much to get you addicted. Only think about one thing at a time. Don’t get greedy. I get carried away with this brush cleaning
I like to beat the brush. If what you’re doing doesn’t make you happy – you’re doing the wrong thing. See there, told you that would be easy. They say everything looks better with odd numbers of things. But sometimes I put even numbers—just to upset the critics. You have to allow the paint to break to make it beautiful. If you don’t like it – change it. It’s your world.
How do you make a round circle with a square knife? That’s your challenge for the day. In your world you have total and absolute power. This is your creation – and it’s just as unique and special as you are. There’s not a thing in the world wrong with washing your brush. Trees grow however makes them happy.

Any little thing can be your friend if you let it be.

Just relax and let it flow. That easy. That’s what makes life fun. That you can make these decisions. That you can create the world that you want. Just go out and talk to a tree. Make friends with it. This is probably the greatest thing to happen in my life – to be able to share this with you.
La- da- da- da- dah. Just be happy. In life you need colors. This is a happy place, little squirrels live here and play.
That’s why I paint – because I can create the kind of world I want – and I can make this world as happy as I want it. Let all these little things happen. Don’t fight them. Learn to use them. Just think about these things in your mind – then bring them into your world.

A tree cannot be straight if it has a crooked trunk.

Anytime you learn something your time and energy are not wasted. Let’s get crazy. There are no limits in this world. We’ll put all the little clouds in and let them dance around and have fun. You’ve got to learn to fight the temptation to resist these things. Just let them happen.
No pressure. Just relax and watch it happen. Everything is happy if you choose to make it that way. Almost everything is going to happen for you automatically – you don’t have to spend any time working or worrying. In painting, you have unlimited power. You have the ability to move mountains. You can bend rivers. But when I get home, the only thing I have power over is the garbage. If I paint something, I don’t want to have to explain what it is. We’re not trying to teach you a thing to copy. We’re just here to teach you a technique, then let you loose into the world.
We don’t have to be concerned about it. We just have to let it fall where it will. It’s beautiful – and we haven’t even done anything to it yet. If it’s not what you want – stop and change it. Don’t just keep going and expect it will get better. This is your world, whatever makes you happy you can put in it. Go crazy.
You could sit here for weeks with your one hair brush trying to do that – or you could do it with one stroke with an almighty brush. I really believe that if you practice enough you could paint the ‘Mona Lisa’ with a two-inch brush. Isn’t it great to do something you can’t fail at?
You need the dark in order to show the light. Take your time. Speed will come later. There is no right or wrong – as long as it makes you happy and doesn’t hurt anyone. In nature, dead trees are just as normal as live trees. Only God can make a tree – but you can paint one.
Exercising the imagination, experimenting with talents, being creative; these things, to me, are truly the windows to your soul. If you do too much it’s going to lose its effectiveness. Here’s something that’s fun.
You create the dream – then you bring it into your world. Anything you want to do you can do here. There comes a nice little fluffer. Think about a cloud. Just float around and be there. Just let go – and fall like a little waterfall. We have no limits to our world. We’re only limited by our imagination.
Everyone needs a friend. Friends are the most valuable things in the world. You have to make almighty decisions when you’re the creator. That’s a son of a gun of a cloud. We don’t really know where this goes – and I’m not sure we really care. Everything’s not great in life, but we can still find beauty in it.
We don’t need any guidelines or formats. All we need to do is just let it flow right out of us. A thin paint will stick to a thick paint. Even the worst thing we can do here is good. Let’s do it again then, what the heck. This is gonna be a happy little seascape

I guess I’m a little weird. I like to talk to trees and animals. That’s okay though; I have more fun than most people. God gave you this gift of imagination. Use it. The light is your friend. Preserve it.
But we’re not there yet, so we don’t need to worry about it. Water’s like me. It’s laaazy … Boy, it always looks for the easiest way to do things You want your tree to have some character. Make it special. Sometimes you learn more from your mistakes than you do from your masterpieces. This present moment is perfect simply due to the fact you’re experiencing it. We can always carry this a step further. There’s really no end to this.
You can do anything your heart can imagine. Everybody’s different. Trees are different. Let them all be individuals. You can do anything here. So don’t worry about it. There is immense joy in just watching – watching all the little creatures in nature.
The man who does the best job is the one who is happy at his job. That is when you can experience true joy, when you have no fear. It just happens – whether or not you worried about it or tried to plan it. The more we do this – the more it will do good things to our heart. Making all those little fluffies that live in the clouds.
