We’re happy to share this video from Honoring Traditions/Bridging Generations, an educational program offered by the Arizona State Museum celebrating traditional artists in the state. Funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the program brought together master and emerging artists to learn from each other and to stimulate dialogue about their artforms. The artists’ work, techniques, and cultural insights were then shared with the public through events and videos.
SFA served as a partner on the project, helping connect the museum to artists, offering a grant writing workshop for artists, and facilitating discussions about tradition vs. innovation within traditional art practices. Additional partners included the Tohono O’odham Nation Cultural Center and Museum.
