Sophia brings more than a decade of marketing, events, and community engagement experience to her role as Director of Volunteers. Tucson Meet Yourself Festival helped her to grow from volunteer to director by connecting her to the exciting work of los tucsonenses. She leads with a collaborative spirit and an ability to build processes that work. Her favorite questions are “why?” and “what about this?”

Aside from her profession, Sophia advocates for mobility justice as a member of Familias Unidas Ganando Accesibilidad (bimonthly community bike rides, school bike clubs, advocacy in DC), as a member of the Mobility Unbound Network, and as Co-Chair of the Complete Streets Coordinating Council making streets safer for all the ways we get around Tucson. She LOVES her bike, being in any body of water, consuming ancestral foods and spirits, and nerding out on facilitation and distillation. 

Sophia has a BS in Urban and Regional Development from the University of Arizona College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She puts it to work with her love and understanding of cities, community-led infrastructure and transportation.
