Our intensive, six-day cultural immersion adventure in rural Sonora begins June 2, when ten student folklorists (Tucsonans from all walks of life and one person from El Paso) and staff journey to Banamichi, Sonora. Attendees will examine the traditional ways, foods and artistic expressions of Sonora everyday life and be instructed in the basic skills of cultural analysis — all the while mentored by University of Arizona instructors and guest lecturers and anthropologists. The next edition of BorderLore will report on Field School’s experiences and its residency at the historic La Posada del Rio Sonora eco-resort.
