Food, Land, and Community Power: A Sobremesa with Culinary Mestizaje at El Pueblo Activity Center

Members of Friends of the Festival! Join us for a sobremesa-style gathering to share stories and reflections on the role food can play in creating belonging, cultural continuity, land stewardship, and collective power in communities navigating extraction and food insecurity.

Originally planned for Louis’ Market—the future Center for Cultural Organizing—this gathering will now take place at El Pueblo Activity Center (101 W Irvington, Building 9) due to ongoing construction timelines. Over a shared meal, we’ll hear from Felipe Hinojosa and Rudy P. Guevarra Jr., editors of Culinary Mestizaje, together with Regeneración and partners in Tucson’s food and land justice ecosystem. The event will feature a moderated panel and sobremesa-style conversations designed to deepen relationships and spark imagination for future work in the region.
