How We belong

Active Storytelling Project

How do everyday people create meaning and find belonging? By embellishing the ordinary. How We Belong offers audio bite-sizes stories (only 3-4 minutes!) of folklife through its various genres (work, play, food, ritual, conversation, adornment, and more) to highlight culture and heritage from the US-Mexico borderlands.

In SEASON ONE, we look at what a folklorist does, how zines offer artifacts of the current moment, how a favorite borderlands snack combines Chinese and Mexican traditions, and much more.

How We Belong is a collaboration with Tucson’s KXCI Community Radio, with support from the Southwestern Foundation for Education and Preservation. It is produced by Cait NiSiomon and Kimi Eisele.
