Kimi is a writer, editor, folklorist, and multidisciplinary artist whose work illuminates kinship between people, cultures, plants, animals, and places. She manages SFA’s communications, curates programs and exhibits, and serves as a writer and editor for BorderLore, SFA’s online journal of borderlands culture and heritage. She is the author of The Lightest Object in the Universe (Algonquin Books, 2019), and her essays have appeared in Guernica, Longreads, Literary Hub, Orion, and Terrain.org, among other publications.

Also a multidisciplinary artist, Kimi has created performances, installations, and visual art about the Santa Cruz River, endangered species, saguaro cacti, urban revitalization, and food systems. Kimi holds a master’s degree in geography from the University of Arizona, where she founded You Are Here: The Journal of Creative Geography. Her work has been supported with grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Kresge Foundation, Arts Foundation of Southern Arizona, Arizona Commission on the Arts, and MOCA Tucson, and she has been a resident artist at Djerassi, Blue Mountain Center, the Mesa Refuge, the Rasmuson Resident Artist Program in Sitka, AK, Storyknife, and Saguaro National Park.
